Embracing Your Fear to overcome fear seems like a paradox, doesn’t it?
And that’s exactly what this idea is: a paradox.

Have you ever felt afraid? Felt like deep down something dreadful would happen any moment now.
When something is going amazing in your life, you feel happy. And you think this situation is the best you could ever be in.
And just then something reaches from the deep recess of your mind, a fear that keeps you at night.
Like powerful men driven corrupt by power, a certain fear slowly drives you mad.
A fear that corrupts your behaviour because you let your fear control you.
The Monster Within
For the time humans have been around, there has been a great history of violence between us.
While this nature of being violent is often regarded as the monster within us.
There are two types of monsters within you:
- The Self-Destructive Monster.
- The Self-Improvement Monster.
In this article, The monster which I refer to is The Self-Improvement Monster.
Your Get to choose which monster you want to embrace.
Because like the default setting in a phone, our default monster is the Self-Destructive Monster.

Why Embracing Fear Is Scary?
Because Fear Itself Paralyzes our senses. We, Humans, are complex creatures.
And this complexity has helped us to survive so far.
This survival instinct is in overdrive when fear is given control of our minds after a particular threshold.
Fear can be divided into two aspects:
- Physical Threat.
- Psychological Threat.
- We run from things we are afraid of.
- The age-old, flight and fight response is activated.
- Embracing Fear means coming face to face the very thing which scares you to your core.
- It means that you are going to be afraid and that thought starts to scare us before even facing our fears.
The fear of death: the unique fear which encompasses both mind and body.
- Fear of death is a good motivator to survive. It has inspired changes in self and among groups.
- Fear of dying is a predicament that almost the entire human race shares.
There is also the fear of rejection:
- This fear is of the psychological aspect.
Why do We Fear?
We fear because of our survival instinct – plain and simple.

Fear is an intensely unpleasant emotion responding to perceiving or recognizing danger or threat.

The ability to be afraid is a component of human nature, despite the fact that many fears are learnt.
Numerous studies have revealed that some phobias—like those related to animals or heights—are far more prevalent than others.
- These phobias are easy to induce in a lab.
- This phenomenon is known as preparedness.
Because if you think about it, early humans that were quick to fear dangerous situations were more likely to survive and reproduce.
- Preparedness is theorized to be a genetic effect resulting from natural selection.
Embracing Fear – How To?
Identify your fears
- Identifying your worries is the first step towards overcoming them. Consider what scares you and why for a while.
- Fears can be expressed in writing to help you make sense of your feelings and thoughts.
Challenge negative beliefs
- Many phobias are rooted in unfavourable presumptions or preconceptions(an idea we hold to be true in our minds).
- Asking yourself if they are true or if there is evidence to the contrary will help you challenge these ideas.
Take small steps
- It may take some time to face your concerns gradually.
- Start by making baby steps towards overcoming your phobias, such as attempting something new or participating in an awkward discussion.
Practice self-compassion
- It can be challenging to face your fears, so it’s crucial to treat yourself nicely as you go.
- Acknowledge your efforts and advancement while being patient with yourself to cultivate self-compassion.
Seek support
- Facing your fears can be easier with the support of others.
- Consider talking to a trusted friend or family member, or seeking the help of a therapist or counselor.
Celebrate your successes
- As you face your fears and make progress, celebrate your successes.
- Recognize your achievements, no matter how small they may seem.
Embracing your fears can be a powerful tool for personal growth and development.
